Family of Claiborn H. Gregory - Wayne County, KY

These are photos of Clabe Gregory's children that I've had the good fortune
to locate thus far. This first grouping are of the family he had with his
first wife America "Merkie" Bell, daughter of Joseph Bell and Tamsey Denny.

Nancy Margaret Gregory #1 Nancy Margaret Gregory (1868-1944). She married first to Frank M.
Gregory in 1888. Frank was the son of John B. Gregory and Polly Anderson.
The couple had one daugher, Victoria Gregory (1890-1971). They divorced
and Margaret married second to Silas B. Walker in 1902. Silas (1875-1914)
was the son of Jerry Walker and Nancy Pitman. Not certain if the following
children all belong to Silas as some were born before Margaret married him.
Perhaps they belong to first husband Frank Gregory? Her children include:
Lenora (Gregory-Walker) Thompson, Clara (Gregory) Miller, John Wesley Gregory
(twin of Clara), James Walker, Calvin Walker, Ona Paul Walker.
Margaret is buried in West Somerset Cemetery in Pulaski County, KY.

Manerva Jane Gregory #2 Manerva Jane "Nerva" Gregory (1871-1937) married first to John Steele
in 1892. John was an elderly man who died that same year. They had no
children. Nerva married second to Charles Foster in 1896. Charlie
(c.1855-1934) was the son of Thomas Foster and Mary Jane Gregory. Their
children include: James "Luck" Foster, John Foster, Henley Foster,
William Alfred Foster, and Vernia (Foster) Gregory. Nerva and Charlie,
along with many of their family members are buried in the Grant Roberts
Cemetery at Rocky Branch, KY.

Joseph Gregory #3 Joseph Gregory (1875-1957) married Laura Jane Gregory in 1908. Laurie
(1893-1973) was a cousin, the daughter of Will Gregory and Mary Margaret
Roberts. Joe and Laurie had two children: Nellie (Gregory) Barton
and Homer Gregory. Joe is buried in the Grant Roberts Cemetery. Laurie
is buried in Kenton County, KY. A grave marker was recently placed on Joe's
grave by E & M Books.

Lewis and Nannie (Miller) Gregory
with grandson Andy Bell #4 Lewis M. Gregory (1876-1949) married first to Nannie "Pet" Miller in
1900. Nannie (1885-1934) was the daughter of Granville Miller and Polly
Chriswell. They had a large family, several of whom died during a flu
epidemic. Their children include: Billy, Charlie, Nonie, Zonie, Will
Annie (Gregory) Bell, Tolbert, Earl, Opal (Gregory) Decker, Bessie (Gregory)
Gregory, Arthur, Gaffey, Arnold, and Hershel.
Lewis, Nannie, and many of their children are buried in the Grant Roberts
Cemetery.
Lewis married second to Sophie Gibson in 1935, no living children. He
married a third time to Lexie Foster in 1936. Their children are: Joseph
Wintford Gregory and Bronnie "Bob" Gregory. Lexie and children moved to
northern Indiana after Lewis's death.
